Akwa-Ibom State-owned airline, Ibom Air, has firmly denied allegations of ticket racketeering at its Port Harcourt station, describing the claims as unfounded and baseless1. In a statement released by the airline’s General Manager of Marketing and Communication, Aniekan Essienette, on Monday in Uyo, the state capital, Ibom Air emphasized its commitment to transparency and ethical standards.

The airline clarified that its staff are prohibited from engaging in any form of racketeering or corruption. It operates under strict guidelines, ensuring a transparent and secure ticketing process. Check-ins close 45 minutes before departure for domestic flights, allowing for timely departures and minimizing delays. Additionally, Ibom Air adheres to IATA’s guidelines in handling ‘Go-show’ passengers, who arrive early without pre-booked tickets and are accommodated only if seats are available after serving booked passengers1.

Essienette stated, “We value your trust in Ibom Air and are unwavering in our commitment to maintaining the highest service standards. We will continue to act in the best interest of passengers while upholding operational excellence in our industry.”

In summary, Ibom Air remains resolute in its integrity, ensuring passengers have a comfortable and stress-free travel experience while upholding operational excellence1.2
