Rick Ross Sued by Disabled Man For Not Making Car Show Wheelchair Accessible

In a recent legal development, rapper Rick Ross is facing a lawsuit filed by Darris Straughter, a disabled man who attended Ross’ annual Car & Bike Show at his sprawling mansion known as “The Promise Land.”

Darris Straughter claims that Rick Ross failed to ensure wheelchair accessibility for disabled attendees. Despite receiving multiple assurances that a wheelchair-accessible shuttle bus would be available, Darris never got the chance to attend the event. He had paid for travel, lodging, and a ticket, even selling his car to do so.

Darris reached out to the venue two weeks in advance, requesting reasonable accommodation for his wheelchair. Organizers assured him there would be a shuttle to take him from the parking lot to the event. However, after waiting for hours, the shuttle never arrived.

Darris is suing Rick Ross for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act. He seeks damages and an order requiring the car show to provide disabled access in the future.

Despite promises of refunds for those who didn’t get into the event, Darris never received any follow-up communication.

We’ve reached out to Rick Ross for comment, but there has been no response so far1.

This incident highlights the importance of ensuring accessibility for all event attendees, regardless of their physical abilities. Let’s hope that such oversights are rectified in the future, making events truly inclusive for everyone2. 🚗👥
