NYSC Coordinator and Driver Declared Missing in Akwa Ibom

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that its Akwa Ibom State Coordinator, Mr. Okun Christopher, and his driver, Mr. Daniel Effiong, have gone missing. They are believed to have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen while traveling on a highway connecting Onitsha, Delta State, and Owerri, Imo State, two days ago¹.

Okun Christopher, who resumed as the 19th state coordinator of the NYSC in Akwa Ibom in April 2024, was on an official assignment when the incident occurred. The duo was traveling in a white official Hilux with registration number “27D31FG” when they were abducted².

Despite efforts to locate their whereabouts, there has been no breakthrough. The NYSC is in contact with their families to gather information about their location. Anyone with useful information is urged to contact the scheme through the 37 NYSC state secretariats, area offices, the National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, or the nearest police station or security agency².
