14-Year-Old Boy Beheaded in Ibadan: Tragic Ritual Killing Shakes Community

In a shocking and horrifying incident, 14-year-old Malik Kareem lost his life in a gruesome ritual killing in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. The tragic event unfolded on Saturday evening in the Olorisaoko community, Akinyele Local Government Area.

Malik Kareem, a young boy who had recently completed his final subject for the West Africa Examination Council at Iyana Community Grammar School, Olode, Moniya, Ibadan. Malik and three other boys sought out a Muslim cleric for a money ritual. Unknown to Malik, his friends had secretly arranged with the cleric to sacrifice him. The cleric strangled Malik to death, beheaded him, and then cremated his head. The other boys planned to use the ashes in their daily pap (a local dish). The incident has left the Olorisaoko community in turmoil. Angry and grief-stricken, yet-to-be-identified youths set the cleric’s house ablaze.

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed that investigations are underway.
